Astaxanthin
Astaxanthin
The Most Powerful Antioxidant Known to Science
Astaxanthin is a red-colored carotenoid that occurs in nature, known as a micronutrient that wild organisms take in as a food source to protect their cells and DNA from various types of environmental stress.
Due to its unique molecular structure, astaxanthin has the ability to quench free radicals both in hydrophilic and hydrophobic ends of cell membranes, protecting both the inside and outside of skin cells from free radical attack, hence suppressing oxidative damage to skin cells. Together with its potent anti-inflammatory properties, research shows that astaxanthin is active in each of the skin’s layer; providing protection from UV damage, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing the appearance of age spots, increasing total moisture content and improving skin elasticity.
Glycation involves sugar binding proteins such as collagen and elastin, which leads to the formation of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs). In our everyday life, AGEs also often come from the food we eat, or are by-products of daily stressors. Glycation of collagen and elastin occurs as early as the age of 20, and the accumulation of AGEs can result in intracellular damage and death of fibroblasts.
Our patented astaxanthin is extracted from the richest natural microalgae source called Haematococcus pluvialis, and has been tested in over 50 human clinical trials in many aspects of health.
